Oral health and nutrition have a bidirectional relationship. Nutrition and diet affect the health of the mouth, and the health of the mouth affects nutrients consumed due to an inability to eat because of a compromised oral cavity.
Dental healthcare professionals are part of the patient’s healthcare team. I do not separate the mouth from my patient’s body. Sure! Dentistry’s focus is the oral cavity, it’s a health specialty, but it does not negate the fact that we are trained professionals who can consult with patients about simple health issues that can lead them back to their primary care physician.
With cavities being the most prevalent chronic condition among children and teens, preventing decay by placing sealants indeed makes sense.

At this point, nothing is a surprise. Whether you’ve been sick or not, I’m just popping in to remind you to change your toothbrush.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Not having everything in place and organized to perfection is not a deal-breaker. My kids and family have been relaxed and enjoying each other all day and that’s all that matters.
